Live Music Monday at Martini\'s

Relax Under the Stars!
- 12:00PM to 01:00PM

Stressed at work? Need a break from your hectic day? Come to Dome Planetarium and calm down. Enjoy a short star talk, then let your tension float away under starry skies with soothing background music. First Wednesday of every month at noon.

Free parking in the museum's parking garage, just bring in your ticket to be validated at the Front Desk. If you arrive past Noon, it will be dark in the Dome. Please pause for a few moments to allow your eyes to adjust to the dark. Someone will help you find your seats. Food and drink welcome in the Dome.

Please note that all are welcome, but this program may not be suitable for young children. It is designed to give people a quiet time to relax, and periods of long sitting can be difficult for some young ones.

First Friday Artists' Studio Tours

Grand Re-opening Celebration at First Ascent Peoria
- 10:00AM to 08:00PM

Join us for the Grand Re-opening, a day-long celebration of our brand new world-class roped climbing area!

We’re opening the doors to 11,000 square feet of climbing surface up to 50 ft tall, and we can’t be more excited to share it with you. Get your climb on from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with activities (and giveaways!) for all ages and ability levels - see below for the day's agenda.

Free for Members. Non-members: enjoy $9 Day Passes (regularly $19) and free rental gear including harnesses, shoes and chalk bags (regularly $10) all day!

8:30-9:45 am: Yoga For All
Spread out your yoga mat and join us for a sneak peak of the roped climbing space with a yoga session under the indoor canyons of First Ascent! This session is FREE and open to the public. Note: Climbing does not open until 10:00 am. Yogis are welcome to stick around and climb afterward by purchasing a $9 Day Pass.

10:00 am - 1:00 pm: Family Climb Time + Open Climb
Families: join us for guided climbing with our youth instructors on the mezzanine! We'll have belayers on hand to help you enjoy climbing on top rope and games for the little ones. The rest of the roped climbing area will be available for open climbing. Experienced belayers can take a top rope or lead climbing test and score their Belay Card upon passing, then enjoy the indoor cliffs of First Ascent.

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm: Learning The Ropes + Open Climb
Join an FA instructor for one of our 90-minute Learning the Ropes classes FREE (regularly $45), and learn how to tie a figure 8 knot and belay your climbing partners. Open climbing continues.

4:00 - 7:00 pm: Point Chaser Climbing Competition + Open Climb
Rope up and climb on in the Point Chaser Comp, a scramble to see how can rack up the most climbs in a 3-hour span! The top climbers will score some sweet prizes, including Butora climbing shoes as well as FA schwag and gift cards. Not into competitive climbing? Climb on at your own pace!

7:00 pm Onward: After party!
Enjoy a taco bar and beer from our friends Industry Brewing (21+ only) while we crank up the music for a dance party celebration! Climbing will continue until 8:00 pm - or until you grab your first beer.

The Rise of the Vienna Secession: Modern Art, Architecture, and Design
- 10:00AM to 11:00AM

In 1897, a small group of artists, architects, and designers in Vienna, Austria, rebelled against the prevailing classical styles and began a movement that celebrated a new, modern approach. Christopher Long, Professor of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, will discuss the origins and early history of the Vienna Secession and works by some of its key figures, such as Gustav Klimt. Social time at 9:30, lecture at 10:00. Peoria Riverfront Museum, lower-level auditorium. Admission is $12 for adults, $5 for students. The PSO’s 121st season closes on Saturday, April 27, 2019, 7:30 pm, at the Peoria Civic Center Theater with GREAT CITIES: NEW YORK. From the romantic sounds of Barber and MacDowell to Bernstein’s rhythmic Symphonic Dances from West Side Story to the “lullaby” of Broadway, this concert will be a whirlwind celebration of the “city that never sleeps.” Pianist Geoffrey Duce finishes his year with the PSO with MacDowell’s Piano Concerto #2.

The Pre-Concert lecture begins at 6:30 pm. Join us in the lobby as local artists display their work. Special drinks and snacks will be available to purchase!
